most of these i learned only after my exit of the cult.
here's hoping a few jw's will stumble upon it.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=er44oc0p4ny&feature=youtu.be.

You said there were a few things on your wife's list that you hadn't brought up. But they all look like perfectly valid points against the Borg to me. Hmmm...
I know I'm swimming against the stream, but MAYBE that list could indicate that some of what you said struck home and that she's beginning to think for herself after all. Any reasoning person could have come up with those "extra" points on her list, if they had allowed themselves to simply draw logical conclusions without the weight of preconceived notions bearing down. Where else would she have gotten such ideas?
Still, there are many smart posters here and several have given you very good advice about being prepared for the worst. Yes, be prepared to be kicked out on short notice. But really, why should you be the one to leave? If you've been paying all the bills, let her be the one to choose between living with someone who doesn't share her particular set of religious superstitions or fending for herself for a change. Just sayin'...
Oh yeah, while I'm on my soapbox, I might as well say it: I think you were perfectly justified to check her tablet to see if she was "building some kind of case" against you. You need to know what you're up against so you can prepare the best defense. Think of it as your version of Theocratic Warfare. What's good for the goose...

CO visits me today
by Chook ini'm at home and hear knock on door , i sneak and look i see two men and recognise one voice and go back into lonunge and ask wife ( who is inactive believer) does she want to speak to elders ,she says no ,then literally 3 minutes has pasted another knock the 3 minutes seemed like an eternity.
so brave heart me think fuck it i'll answer ,i invite them in for coffee, i recognise one older man he is a unique elder who i genuinely was fond of when i was in his name is andrew ,the other guy i didn't recognise we will call harry ( not real name australia doesn't have that many cos with his same name).
so i think to myself i will tread lightly and not cause to much of a fuss for the wife's sake, but my personality is very the opposite of treading lightly ,as you read my threads you will realise i'm not timid.

Thanks, jayvee! It took me a little figurin' to get it working, but now it's goin' like a champ!
FYI, I'm not going to clutter up my SSD with that crap, but I'll keep the steaming pile of spiritual food on an SD card just in case I ever need to prove that a certain person said this or that in a certain talk.
Many thanks to dropoffyourkeylee for sharing this gem of a resource with us.

Over 1000 files! Does anyone know of a way to mass download them all instead of individually?
Don't get me wrong. I realize they're all probably chock-full of bovine effluvia. But having a recording might come in handy one day when someone says, "We never said that!"

I don't think "darky" was considered a pejorative at the time (several popular songs used the term), but the whole tone of the article is condescending. Many WT and Awake! articles of the time were. You know, the old "white man's burden" kind of thing.
Probably didn't raise too many eyebrows back then, but definitely cringe-worthy now. And this snippet is mild compared to some of the other crap they put out.

Mouthy was delightful, and quite a character. She had been hurt deeply by family and "friend" alike, but I don't recall her ever being bitter. Just sad at the totally unnecessary suffering and estrangement foisted upon her by the Watchtower and its minions.
Thank you to Grace's daughter and granddaughter for letting us know of her passing. She is already missed...

Jehovah's Witnesses post 'anti-gay' 'Harness Your Habits' leaflet in North Devon
by OrphanCrow injehovah's witnesses post 'anti-gay' 'harness your habits' leaflet in north devon.
devon and cornwall police have said a leaflet posted through doors in north devon isn't a crime – despite it advising gay people to "control their urges".the leaflet, entitled "how to harness your habits", was distributed in north devon by jehovah's witnesses and contains an article asking "what does the bible say about homosexuality?
"in it, the religious group states that "rejecting homosexuality" is completely different to "rejecting people of a different skin colour" and says their views are the same as people who "view smoking as harmful and even repugnant".it also compares gay people to animals, but says "unlike animals, they can choose not to act on their impulses".the journal was contacted by a reader, who wishes to remain anonymous, who felt "belittled" by the leaflet.

As much as I despise the Watchtower organization, I don't think distributing this pamphlet rises to the level of a hate crime. But doing so was in extremely poor taste and makes them look like a bunch of self-righteous religious nuts. Oh wait...
Well, if it quacks like a duck...
Now if apostates or another religious group dared to distribute pamphlets refuting the teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses or criticizing their mind-control tactics, JWs would be screaming "Persecution!" at the top of their lungs far and wide. The organization is led by inveterate hypocrites.
Another example is how they howl in protest when some new prospect is given a hard time by their family for "studying" with the Witnesses. And yet they are perfectly willing to shun and evict their own children if they choose not become Witnesses or (gasp!) decide to leave the organization. They can't see, or at least refuse to acknowledge, the blatant (dare I say brazen) hypocrisy in doing this. What else can it be when their public position is, "No one should be...made to choose between his beliefs and his family"? Awake! July 2009, page 29
